Steven Danyluk, Ph.D.
Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors,
Qoil Technologies Inc.
Steve is an expert in the development of sensors
for the detection of surface chemistry and metrology
and holds multiple patents in the use of sensors
for monitoring of manufacturing processes. He
has an extensive background in condition based
maintenance and in-situ process monitoring. Steve
began his career as a staff member at Texas Instruments
in 1973. He holds the Morris M. Bryan Jr. Chair
in Mechanical Engineering for Advanced Manufacturing
Systems and is Director of the Manufacturing Research
Center at the Georgia Institute of Technology,
positions he has held since 1993. Prior to joining
Georgia Tech, he was the founding Director of
the Manufacturing Research Center at the University
of Illinois. Steve received his B.S. in Electrical
Engineering from the University of Delaware in
1969 and his Ph.D. from Cornell University in
Materials Science and Engineering in 1974. Steve
previously founded Qcept Technologies, and currently
serves on the Qcept Board of Directors.
Frank Mess, Ph.D.
President & Chief Executive Officer
Since its founding in 2006, Frank has served in
a number of roles for Qoil Technologies, with
a primary focus on market strategy and fund raising.
Frank is an expert in commercialization of technology
and has taken numerous products to market from
concept through production. Frank began his career
at Lucent Technologies Bell Labs developing and
manufacturing cutting-edge optical components
for high-speed fiber optic networks. Prior to
joining Qoil, his roles have included senior management
of operations, R&D, and engineering functions.
Frank completed his formal education with a doctorate
in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute
of Technology. Frank also serves on the Board
of Directors for Qoil Technologies.
Bret Bergman
Chief Executive Officer, Qcept Technologies
Inc.
Bret has 20+ years of technology industry experience
including operating roles with three prior early
stage technology companies (two of which had successful
IPO's) from VP of Marketing & Strategy at
Internet Security Systems, Inc. to COO at Nexchange
Corporation. Bret also spent three years with
McKinsey & Co. Bret also serves on the board
of directors of The Atlanta Speech School and
of Qcept Technologies. Bret received his bachelor's
degree in Marketing from the University of Vermont
and his M.B.A. from the Fuqua School of Business
at Duke University where he was designated a Fuqua
Scholar - the highest academic distinction awarded.
Mark A. Buffington
Mark Buffington is the Co-Founder and
Managing Member of Buckhead Investment Partners,
LLC (BIP) and a seasoned early stage investor.
BIP is a Registered Investment Advisor that currently
manages over $70 million in assets. The company
provides high net worth investors and institutions
with a unique blend of investment advice, combining
passive public market investing with active participation
in private companies in which BIP invests. Mark
currently serves on the Board of Directors of
Ingenious Med, Inc. and Vendormate, Inc., two
successful early stage companies based in Atlanta,
GA. Prior to forming BIP, Mark managed Peachtree
Financial Management and Phoenix Capital, LLC
two companies that he founded for the purpose
of helping high net worth investors build wealth.
Mark also has a background in commercial credit,
working as an underwriter for Citibank in the
late ‘90’s.
